different strokes for different folks

'this painting was done from a photograph provided on the blog Different Strokes From Different Folks, where artists are encouraged to paint or draw their own interpretations.

It was a real challenge becuase portraits are really not my thing. However, it seems that when i push myself i learn so much more than when i am doing something that i am already comfortable with. the image dosen't really capture the exact representation of this women, but i think it captures the essence of the photo.

  1. Scott, you've caught the hair beautifully and I love that you included the fence! I'm so glad to have been given your photo as now I have a new blogger buddy to follow. I so enjoy so many of the artists I've "met" since joining the three challenges I do each month. Also, I've found other artists through those blogs! Lots of learning out there, for sure. Have you visited Wet Canvas? A great site with tons of information and lots of beautiful art work too. Count me a follower and I think your work is lovely. I especially like that one below of the walker on the trail. Just beautiful. Oh yes...having owned a bulldog myself, I must say I was also entranced by the surfer dawg! LOL

By the way, if you'd like the portrait I did of you, I'd be quite happy to mail it to you free of charge. Just email me via my profile page with your info and I will get it out asap.
